A female employee working in CID is seriously injured when a man Tyler allows to get bailed leaves and commits a robbery at jewelers.  The suspect in question was possibly involved in a string of robberies and brought in, with lack of evidence, for preventative measures.  Chris makes mistakes with forensics.  Sam looks to hard-of-hearing Leonard, a street sweeper who witnessed the incident, for help with solving the case.  Sam pleads with Leonard to testify promising police protection.  Annie and Leonard’s lives are put at risk when Chris, Gene and Ray do not take the police protection order seriously.
